Thank you.  More mileage cheaper?  I’ve got some clearer details now so I’ll try again tomorrow.

I just tried it but actually came up more expensive, not less weirdly.
I tried that and it didn't work for me either. I'm 83

I bumped my milage up to 7000 from 5000 and that did

I'm now with Tesco the cheapest

Illustrates how you can play the statistics game to your advantage. The difficulty is figuring out which criteria to change. Insurance companies are not very forthcoming in how they calculate premiums!
No, because you are supposed to just answer honestly and they price it based on that not that you try to game it

Well got my renewal price today from Direct Line ,last year £253.78 ,this year £427.52 ,have been on this site and got a price of £317.54 with Aviva ,no loyalty for me ,£110 saved .
  • i understand all the previous points why prices have increased. Also wondering that didnt they make it compulsory to offer current clients the same prices as new clients (which must have been subsidized ) thus generally putting everyones costs up?

Because "they" would have to be eliminating the whole marketing strategy of a "loss leader". Not that I'm claiming that's what insurance companies were doing, but winning new customers at a very small profit then reaping in much more significant profits as customers automatically renew seems to have been the approach for many years.
