Hello all, completely clean license but received an incident where i have ran a red light 10.1 seconds in ( cant even remember doing this) and no i don't run red lights i have no idea how I've managed to do this. This has been summoned to be heard by a court magistrate, can someone please inform me on what to expect and if i will need to appear or just court papers?

Did you receive a notice of persecution (NIP) requesting the driver details prior to receiving the court summons? Usually it’s a fixed penalty and £100 fine for running a red light.0

probably best not to attempt to use any defence saying "you have no idea how you did it."
running a red light is bad enough, not knowing you ran the light is probably even worse (though not sure on the legal position)

The first letter i received was to admit to being the driver, and the second letter i have received informing me that it has been referred to the courts to be heard by a magistrate0

i did not say this in any way of being an excuse or a defence, simply made a mistake obviously not concentrating which i have took responsibility for and just trying to find out what to expect

You should be asked to plead by letter. As you admit guilt, you won't need to go to court.user123456mc said:Hello all, completely clean license but received an incident where i have ran a red light 10.1 seconds in ( cant even remember doing this) and no i don't run red lights i have no idea how I've managed to do this. 3 points, an income-related fine, discounted by 33% for an early guilty fee but subject to a 40% surcharge.0 -
