Revoked Driving Licence

Hello Dear

Unfortunately my Driving licence has been revoked just few days ago. My questions are as follows:

1) I have already applied for renewal filling up D1 form. When I will receive the new licence from DVLA, will it change or it will remain same?

2)Should I cancel my insurance right now as i have already paid yearly covering till Oct, 2024?

3) Can I appear practical test with my existing car?

Someone expext or had same experience, kindly please response as soon as possible.

Many Thanks
J

  • Hey!
Bummer about your license getting the boot. I've been there, and it's a real headache. Here's the lowdown on your questions:

    1. When I renewed my license with the D1 form, the new one was pretty much a copy-paste job. Unless there's been a massive shake-up in your details or the rules, it should be business as usual.

    2. Insurance can be a right pain. Contact your insurance, fill them in on what's happening. They'll let you know if they're still covering you or if you're out in the cold. Better to know upfront.

    3. Practical test? I'd play it safe. If your license is on the fritz, taking your car out for a spin without a proper license can land you in hot water. Not worth the risk.

Just a heads up, this is just my take from a similar spot. But definitely check in with the DVLA and your insurance crew for the nitty-gritty on your situation. Hang in there, and fingers crossed things get sorted soon!

Insurance. Keep it going. As you still have cover for fire & theft. If car i on the road it needs insurance.

Re test, well you will need someone over 25 to be with you to go to test center.

  • Hello Dear

Unfortunately my Driving licence has been revoked just few days ago. My questions are as follows:
The answers will somewhat depend on why it was revoked, medical grounds, by the police following an accident, another reason? Was it actually revoked, or did you surrender it?
    1) I have already applied for renewal filling up D1 form. When I will receive the new licence from DVLA, will it change or it will remain same?
That depends on the reason why it was revoked, whether that has been dealt with etc. Without further information the answer is anywhere from a few days to more than a year.
2)Should I cancel my insurance right now as i have already paid yearly covering till Oct, 2024?
Your car will need to be declared SORN and moved off a public road if you cancel the insurance. Whether you cancel it is up to you and potentially depends on why your license was revoked.
    3) Can I appear practical test with my existing car?
If correctly insured then yes, but you would also need someone suitable to be in the car with you when you drive to and from the test. Does the reason you had your license revoked require you to resit a test, resit an enhanced test?
  • Police caught me using what apping with phone whilst driving, henceforth revoked with 6 points
  • Also, Does anyone know when I will get my new licence, will I start these 6 points carried forward in my licence?

Yes, they will remain on your licence for the normal length of time for the offence.

How long have you been driving? Do you mean that you were issued with six points for this driving offence, which took you over the six point limit for young drivers, or do you have previous points and you breached the standard twelve point limit and were banned?

When it comes to driving licenses revoked and banned are very different terms, was your license revoked, or were you banned?
  • If it was six points in two years for a new driver, then "revoked" is the right word.

A new provisional licence has to be applied for, then both theory and practical tests have to be passed again.

If he was banned, why would he be applying for a new licence?
