Direct Save

I am currently with a company called Direct Save who I think are based in Watford. I have tried on numerous occasions to move my broadband and phone to another provider. However, each time they have blocked it as apparently they have a "Monopoly" on the estate where I live. I thought it was illegal to have a "Monopoly" and that I have the right to chose who I have my broadband with. Has anybody else come across this issue? Does anybody know how I can swap provider without them blocking it? Many thanks

Who is the underlying network supplier, Openreach or someone else ? .
Your provider ( ISP ) doesn’t have a network , they sell their packages over various other company’s infrastructure, some of these are Alternative Networks, the rules around these ‘Alt Nets’ , are not the same as those applied to Openreach , so before any opinion can be accurately offered, it’s necessary to know what network you and your router are connected to, not just the ISP.
As an example OFNL are the exclusive ( only ) network in some areas , because the developer ( builder ) locked out Openreach from the development when the buildings were under construction , so the only available providers ( ISP ) are those that ONFL deal with , in that way it is a ‘monopoly’ of sorts , but one the regulator Ofcom and the Government are not in any hurry to do anything about .0
