The amount of times I had people tell me how great my house was and how it ticked all their boxes only for them to view about another 20 houses and lose interest in my house. The worst thing is when they leave dangling for ages as to whether they want to put an offer in or not.
Now the market is picking up again it will a at least ease the issue of too much choice.I think if you ask a viewer outright what they think, they are likely to make positive comments whatever they are actually thinking. Most people avoid being blunt and it can seem rude being negative about a person's house. It's much better to let the agent contact viewers afterwards to get feedback when it's not confrontational.0 -

You take an offer and put one in and then it's several months of constant worry and uncertainty! Even to the days you are meant to move! I'm desperate for this to end - just waiting for the buyers lender to answer a query so we can exchange and get out of this horrible limbo and living out of boxes in a shell of home.
I wouldn't be in hurry to do any buying or selling again anytime soon - most people have a nightmare in the process somewhere!
@FlyMeSomewhere79 why - how - are you paying for utilities in a house you don't own?
For future reference, that's not the way most people handle utilities! You take meter readings on the day you move and inform the companies on the day you move in or over the next couple of days. In all my many years of reading this forum, I've never heard of anybody changing them in advance. How did you even have opening meter readings?
Clearly when my partner called to notify that we were due to move at the end of that week, the utility company said yes that's fine you can start paying the bill from that date. They clearly didn't ask for opening meter readings on the new house did they!!!0 -

First one says the house was a little too small but felt price was right.
One yesterday thanked me for showing them round but said the house was a little too big for them but again felt price was right.
Wish Goldilocks would turn up soon.

When we last moved it was a nightmare and we said we would never do it again, but 37 years later we finally bit the bullet to downsize after stumbling across our dream bungalow. Ours went on the market first week of Jan and we had an offer just over the asking price in the first week, and as it was a cash offer we accepted it PQD.We are fortunate to live in a small Cambridge street mainly made up of 1930s semis that don’t come up very often, as like us people stay put for decades (next door has been there for 80 years) Our sellers are moving overseas so nothing much in the way of a chain. Seems to be going OK at the moment but just waiting for something to go pear-shaped, it is never this easy.0

There used to be a note at the top of the page about being nice to all money savers. It was enforced too. I miss those days.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1

Firstly I would agree with the thoughts that there is little joy in moving.
As for thinking you are timing it for people to move ready for the term starting in September for schools that may be the case for families already at the school. If they are moving to the area then it would be far too late, 3 days ago most 11 year old kids found out what secondary school they would go to in September. You end up applying in November to start the following year so your timing may fit better for the next year I suppose.1 -
