I received a call supposed to be from MPAAS on number 03308088910 I was told they had been instructed by EDF to send out someone to come and turn off my Gas Meter as it is not working properly . I received a Statement off EDF 23rd with my gas and electric meter readings.
I would not confime anything, but was dismayed that they knew my name, that I was an EDF customer and had my phone number.

I have tried ringing EDF and a long wait so I sent a whatsapp message and also an email.
I googled the number and this number has made a load of phone calls. As far as I am aware there is nothing wrong with m smart meter, and if EDF instructed this company to came out then I would have liked an email from them to confirm thsi.

WhatsApp reply was we aim to answer most messages within one working day
Email I am yet to have a response .

Thanks to all who post comps :)

You've missed out a digit, but it looks legitimate if the number was 0330 808 8910.

It's probably legitimate but it could be spoofed, so best to call back if in any doubt.
  • Just had a call from them today about a "problem with my EDF smart meter".  I don't have an EDF account or smart meter, and havent had an edf account since September 2023.  Tried calling them 5 times today, wait in call queue only to get cut off each time when approaching the end of the queue.  Not a scam, but their account informaiotn seems to be inaccurate and out of date

@GarryGlen check on https://www.findmysupplier.energy that your MPRN and address and meter serial number and supplier are registered correctly.

Shame we never heard any more back from @cinders59 about what happened.
Just because a meter is supposedly "not working properly" is no justification for them turning off a supply, they should be turning up with a new meter. I would have told them to get lost and tell EDF to contact me.

  • MPAAS is a legitimate company. They work on behalf of certain energy companies for smart metering services. I used to work for the company so i can honestly say you have nothing to worry about. If they have either rang you or asked you to contact them you can take the call in confidence. For the person who was concerned that they knew the details they have all details of the customer sent to them by energy company so they can help that customer in question. If for peace of mind contact you energy company like EDF and they will confirm who MPAAS are.
  • Hi, I have just received the exact same call and searched online and found this thread. I have tried contacting EDF to check if this is legitimate but as the original poster said, I am on constant hold. They also knew my name but wanted to confirm my surname which I would not give, having been scam called before. I've checked my account where all seems to be ok although i did receive an out of the blue oddly typed message supposedly from EDF stating that MPAAS will contact me. Even though replies to this forum have confirmed that this is a legitimate company I am not convinced the call was. Is there any way to contact EDF to find out?

    Welcome to the forum.
You did the right thing, never give details to a cold caller.
If you think it might be legitimate, call MPAAS on 0330 808 8910 or email hello@mpaas.co.uk.
