Lidl Parkingeye PCN

Hi all,

Yesterday I received a PCN from Parkingeye for parking in a Lidl car park and forgetting to validate my receipt after checking out. They have me in the car park for 26 minutes. I have a bank statement showing my transaction at that Lidl location between my arrival and departure times at a value of £46.

I have read through the Newbies thread as well as several other similar threads, but am unsure of the best first step. Should I use the template first appeal and appeal directly through Parkingeye? If so, are there any details I should add or remove? I don't have much faith in the store manager being able to help, and have read several threads where Lidl customer services were also unable to intervene.

I can post a redacted picture of the PCN if that would be helpful.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello and welcome.

You say you "don't have much faith in the store manager", but you seem quite happy to put your 'faith' into ParkingEye and expect them to forgive your forgetfulness.

With respect, I think you have got that the wrong way round.
PE's response will be along the lines... "Rules is rules. We make no money in forgiving people who make mistakes. Pay up".

Lidl on the other hand will make no more money from someone who refuses to visit their stores ever again.

Plan A in the opening post of the NEWBIES thread is always a good idea. What have you got to lose?

Which particular Lidl store? Has it been mentioned before on this forum?
  • Thanks KeithP.

This branch of Lidl is on the High Street in Walthamstow at the St James Street end. Even by Lidl standards it is particularly chaotic - probably a large part of the reason I forgot to validate my receipt (not to mention the terrible, unclear parking signage).

I popped in today and spoke to the store manager. Unsurprisingly (to me at least), they told me I would need to contact customer services directly. Is there a template approach for this? Do I also need to be careful with the language I use (i.e. keeper of the vehicle vs driver), or is it ok to be completely open as I'm not yet dealing with Parkingeye?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Complain as keeper.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
