How can Napier get away with this?

I paid and received an email receipt for parking from 11.48am to 3pm.

I've received a parking ticket from the times 11.46am (the time I arrived) to 2.48pm (the time I left) for 'Failure to make required payment'.

I sent the email receipt to Napier but they insist I have to appeal.

Can anyone even tell me what I've done wrong??

The total amount paid is actually for a longer time than I entered the car park. The app starts the payment from the time you download and go into the app, not the time you enter as far as I recall.

Selected the wrong app for the carpark? Keyed the reg wrong? Failed to comply with the "Stand on one leg when typing your reg number" clause?

    Thank you. Doh!

I've inputted my old car reg into the system (bought new one recently).

Will go and pay it, tail between my legs!

    Eek - no you won't!

Not a single regular here told you to pay; if that's what I meant I'd have said so.

    DO NOT PAY.

You simply appeal stating it's a keying error (show them the screenshot showing the car you paid for in error) and ask them to cancel it as per the incoming DLUHC Code of Practice because the burden should not fall on the consumer to input a VRM.

Why would you fund a scammer?

Oh thank you. I just assumed it was my error so I'd have to pay. Will see how I get on.

Let us know what Napier say.  You won't be paying even if they reject the appeal.

Be polite and don't use a template but DO refer to the DLUHC's incoming CoP, like I said. Admit to driving.  Appeal online.

And use the phrase 'only a keying error' and remind them that their Trade Body tweeted that paying motorists should never be treated unfairly for minor things like keying errors.

You paid for your vehicle's time on site, why do you think you should pay a greedy chancer because they expect you to jump through hoops to make their chosen technology installed work to reduce the number of employees they pay.
