Approved used car - manufacturer warranty

My son bought a 1year old Audi from an approved used Audi franchise dealership 2 years ago. It has developed an oil leak which requires gearbox removal. The dealership appears not to be honouring the manufacturers 3 year warranty at all, irrespective of whether this repair would be covered. Is this typical and can they do this??

What reason are they giving for not doing the work under warranty?

There is no explanation anywhere of why they are not providing the manufacturers warranty

The handover documents only included 12 months lost key cover

You say it was 1 year old, 2 years ago, so is it actually still in the warranty period of 3 years from new, or has it tipped outside of that period?

What month of which year was the car first registered?

You know that's three years from NEW, not three years from when he bought it?
Audi Approved Used comes with 12mo warranty, or 2yr for "e-Tron" battery electric cars.

Also - how many miles are on it? The first two years are unlimited mileage, the third year (from new) is max 60k miles.

Date first registered new 21 12 2021. Purchased Feb 2022. Mileage sub 20K. Thanks for the links. Does that mean the 12mo approved used warranty (presumably from date of purchase) replaces the 3 year manufacturer from date new?

What seems strange to me is that the “Confirmation of Cover” certificate that came with the vehicle only states lost key insurance and no mention of warranty. The Audi used vehicle warranty booklet says the level of cover is as stated in the certificate. And the accompanying letter says “ Attached is your Confirmation of Cover certificate outlining the cover provided for your specific vehicle along with the Approved Used Cover Booklet. The cover provided will take into account any balance of the cars original three year / 60,000 mile manufacture warranty and three year Audi road side assistance. For some vehicles only Audi Key Protection will supplied..”
