Halifax bank repeatedly declining payment

Do you bank online? A spend limit can be set in the app by the customer, so worth checking.0

Looking at mine now. You can freeze online payments, but there is no option to set a limit on payments other than contactless ones.Devongardener said:Do you bank online? A spend limit can be set in the app by the customer, so worth checking.1 -
Given the daily limit mentioned, then this is a current account with a debit card? Or is this some savings account?
Odd that a debit card would have a daily limit that low. Maybe speak to Halifax before making the request so that they can do whatever they need to pre-approve the transaction (for the iPad you want, not a cheaper compromise).
As mentioned, having a second current account would be highly advisable, something like Starling, Monzo or other digital banking facility.1 -
Thanks. I will do. TBH I bought an M1 MacBook Air and an iPhone 13 Pro both via the same source, which is also where I bought my existing iPad Pro. I’ve also bought other products there, those are just the most expensive. Nothing was ever said about any limits on any of those occasions. That’s why I can’t understand it.la531983 said:
I think this bit is a load of bull tbh, Ive spent thousands in one go on my Halifax card, and I cant find anything online about a daily spending limit. Transfer limits, yes.SamanthaR said:
They aren’t social workers, but they are adamant that there is a daily spending limit which I keep going over, though they won’t tell me what it is.la531983 said:
There must be more to the story that has been told. No bank would decline a payment for this reason assuming funds are there, the card is valid and the merchant is legit, they arent social workers.WillPS said:Strikes me as bizarre advice to suggest buying something cheaper as a solution when you have enough money.
You need to put an official complaint in.0 -

The OP should not change the legitimate merchant they wish to buy from to suit their bank's authorisation whims.

I think I am going to speak to the fraud team, just go double check that they don’t suspect fraud. If they don’t, I shall definitely be moaning. It’s my money, not theirs. Thanks.0

Ok, I’ve phoned the fraud team and they were very very dismissive and again just reiterated that it was over my daily limit and again refused to say what that limit is, so I’m going to complain
Not that I suspect it will do me much good0 -
New iPads are likely to launch next month/in a few weeks time. May not be the ones you want to buy but could push down the price of the older models.0
