‘Buyers’ gone silent. What’s going on?

Would appreciate any thoughts/advice.
Friends accepted an offer from chain-free buyers (in rental) just before Christmas. Took a while for them to find a property. At start of Feb, buyers said they were going away for a fortnight mid-Feb and would be looking elsewhere when they returned if things didn’t start moving.
My friends had an offer accepted on a property to purchase mid Feb and solicitors were instructed. Nobody (agents or buyers solicitors) has had any communications with buyers since then. I can’t believe that people would be so completely out of contact that they couldn’t communicate at least once.
They were due back last Friday and nothing has been heard. What would you think/do? This has become a source of huge stress.
TIA

I'd wait at the very least until tomorrow. If they were due back on Friday, it'd make sense for them to check in tomorrow at the earliest2

"Last Friday" meaning two days ago? I wouldn't expect anything to happen over the weekend.4

Your friends seem hugely sensitive.Bronnie said:They were due back last Friday and nothing has been heard. What would you think/do? This has become a source of huge stress.
If no update over a weekend, while the buyers are unpacking their suitcases and doing their washing, makes them feels so stressed, they're genuinely not going to survive the whole moving process.
I suggest they take as much valium as they can get their hands on and delegate everything to their solicitors.9 -
I presume that the stress here is being caused by the fact that prior to going away, the buyers were getting impatient about the sellers not having found anywhere to move to? It’s probably not unreasonable to assume that people who were previously getting anxious about lack of progress might consider checking in with their emails a few times while away. I can understand why your friends are now feeling a bit concerned to be honest. Hopefully things will resolve themselves tomorrow!

Have your friends considered that the delay in them finding a house may have 'become a source of huge stress' to the buyers6

I hope all is well but every time my buyers went silent something was wrong. My house fell through twice.
It could just be they were enjoying the holiday and will respond on Monday.1 -
To be fair, I think their buyers waiting 2 months to hear if the sellers had found somewhere is probably more stressful to the buyers. We have been very conscious that our buyer is a FTB, so we made sure we found somewhere pretty quick - less than 3 weeks. They can be a very jittery breed. We've kept them updated through our EA. All looks good at the moment.
Depends where the buyers are at - if they've had surveys done etc. they might just be sounding off in frustration. If they've nowhere to live in a couple of months, you can maybe understand why.1 -
Thanks for your comments. The above comment has it in a nutshell. They’ve been trying to relocate to another part of the country for over a year now. Chains have collapsed twice and money has been lost, hence possibly more worry than normal! I know buying and selling is rarely easy for either party. Hopefully some news asap. Thanks again 😊EssexHebridean said:I presume that the stress here is being caused by the fact that prior to going away, the buyers were getting impatient about the sellers not having found anywhere to move to?
