    Morning

I think everything becomes easier as you get older. You've years more real life experience to help you decide what's your personal priority in life, what your partner's priority is and what you both decide are your joint priorities. You kind of hone yourself i think. It helps you decide that you simply don't want to buy more stuff cos its not the stuff that makes you happy. You naturally stop wanting to spend on certain things and that helps free up money, time and brain space for other, more important to you, things.

A money plan once begun will evolve and things will start being accounted for more in advance, less things come in as a 'surprise', in general it gets easier. (Dont get me wrong, I think we always want just 'a bit' more money, it would simplify things or allow a bit of wealth building so although more content these days i still think it would be lovely if someone gave me a few thousand 😀 )

So yes, I'd agree, after a period of belt tightening I hope you follow the same pattern, you'll know when it's OK to splurge on something and when you'll think nah thats not worth it and you'll be happy with that decision.

I'm not saying everyone becomes the wisest man in the world and never makes and more balanced a mistake, but things definitely get calmer

I get this a bit at the minute, I spend time putting together lists and then end up either distracted by emails or by other ppl. The most productive I have been lately is when I came home and worked from home. I am going to spend a bit of time tomorrow just trying to make sense of some stuff.

I have been meaning to do it for a while, I haven't had the need for it in such a long time, but even still removing the temptation is the wisest move. I like the like the idea of having every penny accounted for and I think this might be the long term goal, so I will slowly move towards that. The direct debits are pretty dialled in now so its more the random spends we just need to try get some consistency with our food and other spends

When I first started my current role, they dropped like 60 folders on my desk, each of this was a repair or maintenance job that needed doing and I was like wow this company hasn't really moved into the current digital world. We have now got a to a point we are trying to get rid of paper within the company, even the printer asks you a million question before you print owt 😂. I think I just love me some good stationary.

Hey Daisy :) - I would like to think I am becoming a lot more responsible with my money and I am certainly not as impulsive as I once was. I think we are probably a lot more in tune with our finances than we have been for a while. I just really need to settle on the plan and let it play out and then decide what to do with any extra as we get it. I am sure there is still going to be plenty of questionable choices along the way 😂. I have gone from wanting the newest and latest things and am a lot more reluctant to just splash a lot without some real consideration.

Happy Saturday. All pots have now been sorted and filled with where they need to go. I am going to see what the MOT brings next week before making any sort of commitments that aren't in the budget. Once MOT has been taken care of then I can start allocating funds.

I have filled the car with petrol to last the week and we have had one of our allocated eat takeaways tonight. We had chippy, the little one enjoyed it as it rare she can have chippy. We have then just chilled and watched tv. Tomorrow we will do the shopping but it is going to be very much a chilled family day. There will likely be a bit of decluttering to do.

I have found that been active and posting abit more is keeping me on track and keeping focused. Even on the days there isn't much happening I am finding myself posting to just keep up the streak.

FFD I have found the same with my diary, and it’s a good distraction from spending money if nothing else 😂.

Your weekend sounds lovely and chilled. Lots of really positive financial plans moving forward too.

it’s definitely a good distraction, it’s also giving me a place to put down some frustrations but also giving me an outlet to put in some good financial accountability which I’ve neglected and totally thrown out of the window some good habits I’d built. I’ve gone backwards a fair towards the end of last and got distracted by things I never thought I would. Luckily no irreparable damage but most certainly an eye opener.

Really enjoyed today, it’s felt exactly like a Sunday should 😊. I managed to have a bit of sleep in this morning and had a bit of a lazy morning. Once I’d enjoyed the morning I went got food shopping n some treats to watch a few episodes of stranger things with the family. I’ve done a bit of admin stuff while watching football so yeah all round chilled day.

I need to check my work plans for the week but should be a full week in the office. I will have a nice relaxing bath then once little one is settled I will settle with a bedtime drink n maybe few emails ( I never sleep early) I’d love to have a proper night routine but never happens, maybe that can be a goal

hope everyone had a lovely weekend, feels good to have got January out of way.

Same routine as your wee one - no screens, warm drink not alcohol, bed at same time each night including weekends, once you are in the habit it happens every night same as your wee one.

If it doesn't then you need to look at caffeine. Some folk are taking endless caffeine in the day and then wonder why the brain is still whirring.

Good luck with it, there's a reason they use sleep deprivation as torture. Plus studies are linking not enough sleep to the brain not getting 'washed' at night, building up plaques leading to problems in later life

I suspect it will be caffeine intake that isn't helping, yes my brain defo likes to keep active. I seem to fall asleep earlier if I am laid in bed watching a show then the noise and me focusing on that stops my brain over thinking ( strange I know). It is the moments of silence that my brain often thinks of stuff I forget to do that day lol

Overall though I really do need to look at hydration through the day and have a cut off time for any caffeine. I never used to be that bad but now I like tea/coffee a bit much. A routine defo sounds nice though if I can get in to it.
