My eldest DD has just changed roles/employers and I think for anyone starting a new job it is daunting initially but hopefully you will soon settle in. The salary increase will be useful.Days to Orlando: 516 - ☀️0 -
Happy Midweek, crazy how fast time goes. Hope everyone doing well.
Payday tomorrow- finances have gone as expected this month with no real shocks. I have started a new Pot to cover home/decor stuff. The house hasn't really had any stuff done since we moved in and we do still have plenty of old clutter to clear - no idea where most of it has come from as i sure don't recall buying some of it lol. Hopefully after holiday we can really focus on it
Parking has been purchased for airport so that is one thing off the list. I get notification of pending payment for income, wage is short this month and not sure why so need to check that out. It is normally very consistent, can't quite think of why it would change, so will have to check wage slip.

Is it annual leave? They usually adjust pro rata so if you have taken more than you are owed to the time you leave then they will grab it back. Definitely check carefully though as when you are leaving is a perfect time for them to pull a fast one!Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Evening All,
It has been a few weeks since I updated. It has been a busy few weeks, although I have been checking in on other diaries there wasn't really much of updates on my own diary. I am now into the 2nd week at new job and so far its very different to my old role, I do feel a little like a spare part at the minute as I have gone from knowing/being the go to for everything and been overworked, to a more relaxed pace. I am sure it will ramp up quickly though, the plus I am taking from things at the minute is that my sleep as improved massively already and I am now having breakfast, a proper lunch break and a decent dinner on a night. I am still feeling a little tired at times but hopefully as my diet starts to improve so will energy levels. Early days and so very new at the minute but good so far, got a few training courses upcoming in next few weeks too. The difficult thing is I tend to want to run before I can walk lol, but its a totally different career path to what I am used to so need to pace myself.
Finance wise things are going okay, a little tighter this week than I would have liked but the main things we spend on each week like petrol, grocery and school bus/meals are covered with some to spare so no real dramas. This month we had to spend on extra things like travel insurance and parking for the airport for when we are away. The holiday tickets were collected this week and I can't believe its only 24 days away! I haven't even thought about packing yet. The DD is super excited, she hasn't ever been abroad so flying is going to be nerving for her but she is on the countdown.
We have no other unexpected expenses this month, so hopefully it stays that way. Although we have had a few un-budgeted spends on eating out. On the negative side I currently have ear infection, whilst it isn't causing any real pain I had to get antibiotics which were a nightmare to find anywhere.
Hope everyone is doing good and enjoying some of the short spells of nice weather we are gettingDays to Orlando: 516 - ☀️1 -
Good to see you're doing well mate. Enjoy the quiet days at work while you're learning your new role. Are you going on holiday over the May half term - we will be on a boat for a few days, ha. Im sure your little girl will be fine on the flight; kids don't tend to be particularly nervous about it. I was always fine as a kid, but when I got a bit older, I started to hate flying. It's the being out of control I don't cope well with; I got a bit better since I've been in recovery, but I still don't like it. Kids don't have control issues so she'll almost certainly be fine.2

I am trying to soak up information at work, I know that eventually it will become a busy role, which I don't mind at all. I have started to set myself boundaries which I never did in my previous role which is likely why it eventually got too much. I just need to ensure these boundaries remain, eventually I will get back into running / gym once I settle a bit more into a routine. I know as challenging as the new job / learning new stuff might be I simply had to change something and management at old place weren't prepared to make any sort of adjustments.
It is good to read on your updates that you seem to be finding a bit of a better balance too.Days to Orlando: 516 - ☀️2 -
@FootyFanDan fml don't watch that the day before you fly mate ha. Yeah, it's safe, I do know that tbf, fear is usually irrational, I do at least accept that and it doesn't stop me flying.
Sounds like you are settling in well to me mate and thanks, I am.1 -

Yeah, it is our first family holiday abroad. Me and partner had planned and paid to go to Orlando in 2011, prior to having the little one. 1 month before we were due to fly we both got made redundant & homeless (not as extreme as sounds lol - we moved back to my parents) so it got cancelled. We haven't ever really then planned an holiday since as something always prevented it so yeah its long overdue!
My missus absolutely loves videos and pics - I don't so much but then I love it when the video's come up. I see vids of her being so young and can never believe that she was so tiny haha.
Love the progress you are making on your journeyDays to Orlando: 516 - ☀️1 -

Sounds like you are settling in well to me mate and thanks, I am.- I remember my mum been terrified of flying when I was a kid. My old boss the same, he used to drive whenever they went abroad.
Yeah, I am settling in more now. I have a meeting next week to review objectives and stuff - I think it was always going to feel a bit strange going in a new direction but I am positive that I made the right call, more so for my own well being. Although leaving kinda made me feel liked I had failed abit and given up!. The new role is a fresh start, a chance to learn something new and if it doesn't work out then at least I tried...better to have tried and failed than not tried at all.Days to Orlando: 516 - ☀️2
