Happy Wednesday
☑️ Early night
☑️ work lunch made
Today will likely be a busy day with various meetings and loads of admin catch up work to do. Hoping I can get peace in the office lol. This is something I really miss about working from home, there is just times working in office where I get into focus mode and then others distract me and it frustrates me that I don't then get stuff done
Finance wise today should be a NSD, (I don't count personal spends as this has already come out of joint budget) The thing that always scuppers these NSD is the top up shops so if I can get rid of these then NSD should be pretty easy. All bills / direct debits have come out, seeing how a few others work their pots/savings as given me some food for thought about how to work mine so will look into that later.
Now time for a coffee
Hope everyone has a fab Wednesday

Likewise, re. the downtime and we did have a nice time, thank you.
It's not a good thing to not be able to switch off from work, although I don't have much in the way of advice other than to say you need your time with your family and if you're doing the job to the best of your ability, that is all anyone can expect. I say that to my staff sometimes when they have a lot on / difficult clients / all manner of things, stressed out basically and I 100% mean it. I want them firing on all cylinders, performing well, and, at the end of the day, able to enjoy time with their loved ones too. That's what we're all doing it for really, eh. The job will still be there, but you don't want to miss out on time and memories with your family and suffer burnout, which is awful for you and likely not so great for your employer, either. Burnout does affect performance, no matter how you try to mitigate it. Something to think about for your next role. FWIW, I'm aware of my own !!!!!! hypocrisy, ha.

Hi all,
Today is going to be a day of a rest. I plan on being so lazy today haha. Food shop was done yesterday and came in within budget and all other planned spends have now come out of the bank.
Over the last few days I have been looking at the figures and budget will look with the new income and I have come to the decision that I am going to focus on aggressively paying off the CC as my first priority. My wage increase is a significant one that will make a huge difference long term, however if I can use the extra amount to get rid of that damn CC as soon as possible I think that is the best plan. I will continue to keep up my current payment on the other debt as the interest is already factored in and not increasing. Once CC is paid off I can then put what I was putting on the CC towards others.
I have had to change a few of my direct debits dates as income will now be different. I normally use Sunday to do weekly food shop and I then spend an hour or so reviewing what I have coming up over the week and planning my work week.
I have been thinking about new role and hoping the nerves are just a normal reaction, hopefully once I am in I can settle, change isn't something I always do but this will have such a positive impact if it works out both financially and hopefully from a personal / family point of view. No regrets either way as I had to try something new! Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.
Hope everyone has a chill Sunday whatever their plansDays to Orlando: 516 - ☀️3 -
It is probably sensible to focus on the credit cards. Getting them on to 0% if they are not already on 0% is going to make it easier to clear them.
My eldest DD has just changed roles/employers and I think for anyone starting a new job it is daunting initially but hopefully you will soon settle in. The salary increase will be useful.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. It has been a while since I have logged in and done any sort of updating, it has just been so busy. There isn't much really happening financially, everything is ticking along and just waiting for payday next week. I have been doing a lot of reading up on investing/savings, I have took the plunge and have committed to putting £100 a month of savings into an investment account, this isn't anything extreme but hoping I can just leave it there to provide additional funds at back of end of working life which seems forever away, but no doubt it will fly by. I have also got a standard savings account to put remainder of savings in to build up a bit of a when stuff goes wrong fund. I have re-jigged how I do pots and track those hoping it will be a motivation to see I have funds there for repairs/xmas and vacations. Myself and partner have sat and discussed finances for the 1st time in a very long time. The finances is normally something she is quite happy for me to just plan and sort, but I wanted to gauge how she feels about where we prioritise the additional funds. We both want to travel more and it isn't something we have planned too much, but we are going to ensure we prioritise this now to ensure we can try do that.
I can't believe I am now preparing for my final week in current role, I had agonised over whether it was the time to move on about 6 months ago due to various reasons. I knew I wasn't totally happy, but wasn't actively trying to change it and just kept pushing thinking it would get better. Eventually through pure chance meeting I found a route out, and in just over a week I will be starting a new challenge. I am expecting a really rough / hectic week due to handover as I am just getting handed more and more which doesn't seem logical lol but ah well. The last few weeks have shown me I totally made the right call. 3 months notice nearly done! I am glad I kept my word though and worked the notice.
EEEEK! In less than 6 weeks I will be in Spain on our first family holiday, I can't wait. I still have some prep to do for this yet and when I get paid I need to book the parking for airport. We do have a few last bits of holiday shopping to do
Hope everyone has had a good weekend and has a positive, productive week.Days to Orlando: 516 - ☀️0 -
