Today plan
- do online shop
- Ikea visit - YAY winning at life..lol🤣.
- I need to go through budget.
- Complete work expenses.
Last few weeks have been pretty tough, not slept much has been agonising over the go back / don't go back decision. I am now hoping that now that choice has been finalised I can just get some decent rest and get into a nice routine.
Last night was a relaxing evening, we sat as a family and watched a film with some treats and no devices so that was good. Hopefully we can do more of this0 -

I hope you can sort the sleep out now you have made your mind up mate. FWIW based on what you’ve written on here and on your previous diary re the previous employer I think you are making the right decision, if nothing else this role gives you a new experience you can potentially leverage in the future.1

Thanks @alt80
I think you are likely right, and every single person who means anything to me in my life are saying pretty much the same and ultimately a honest discussion with partner made up my mind. If I am honest without that discussion who knows what would have happened. The reality is the new job is a decent environment, with a supportive team and manger as well as good pay. I think I just panicked when I first started due to been thrown in at the deep end!

I picked a great day to go to Ikea😅 they had a additional deal on which meant it was way busier than normal. However was a successful trip and we now have ideas regarding wardrobes, new living room furniture we like and ideas for the little ones room. The first thing needs to be a wardrobe and we will be purchasing that this month. It is a bit more than we were originally planning on spending, however it will save us having to buy drawers so not too bad. I am glad we went an looked in person as the ones that seemed a good idea online looked really flimsy when we saw it today. I like the convenience of online (as well as not having to deal with packed shopping centres) but sometimes it is much better to see in person.
I need to buy a few items from that Amazon
- New set of ink for printer
- Some files/folders for work organisation and for easy access/quick reference to some training guides I am slowly building up for myself
- Vehicle mileage log book. I use my personal vehicle and get paid car allowance, but as I am now getting out and about more and travelling for client meetings I really need to be better at logging this.
I also need to clean my car again next weekend, but will likely just take it to a garage to jet wash or to one of these car cleaning places that have popped up everywhere. I did clean it last week, however one of sites I went to on Friday was like a mud field 🤣.

@FootyFanDan good to hear you and your Mrs are working together as a team. I’ve had new staff who’ve come from a position they’ve been in for a long time find settling into a new position and different environment difficult. It’s all the change and for you it will have been compounded by a change in industry also.
Ikea is very hit and miss. I’ve bought some decent bits for my office from there but a lot is flimsy - you need to see it in person. Although I’d say that for any furniture. You can’t be a million miles from Redbrick Mill, well worth a visit, I’ve bought some stunning bits from there. If one of my staff gave my secretary a !!!!!! mileage log book I’d tell them to get it transcribed into Excel themselves. Don’t need it mate, just log it in the spreadsheet when you get home or see if your car app will export as a .csv file.1 -
I use a spreadsheet as well, much easier to manage and I just have it on my phone so can update it there and then.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

Yeah we did look and there is some really good stuff but then also some stuff that looks like it won't last. We have made a decision on what we are getting so just need to find space in budget as it really is holding up the rest of the progress on house. For the first time we have seriously discussed proper plans for what we see the long term vision here. The kitchen isn't the biggest and needs some work, but everywhere is reasonable size....just need to rid it of the rubbish we have accumulated
