Revisiting this thread ahead of International Coffee Day on Tuesday.

    I'm currently drinking this:

    https://www.cafedirect.co.uk/products/thrive/roast-and-ground/

which sells for £3.50 or £4 in the supermarkets, but I picked up for £1.25 a bag short-dated in my local pound shop.

  • Confession: I have a French press and bought ground coffee with great excitement, but it just tasted bitter and nasty. I'm not prepared to buy any more bags trying to work out which I prefer when I can get a 190g jar of Douwe Egberts at around £6 when on offer.

Apart from that I find the grinds a bit of a hassle to get rid of thoroughly. I hate the thought of even the few remnants that cling to the press going down the sink so supposed I could rinse it out with water and feed my plants with it?

So much to read, so little time.

I'm told that coffee grounds might keep the dreaded slugs & snails at bay!

It looks like a treat but is so clearly bad for you!

I inspected the Lidl aisles for coffee bags yesterday but there were none. Clearly the profit margin on other coffee lines is better.

Probably 3 a day whether I am in the office or at home. I don't tend to buy coffee from Costa or such outlets as I only drink black coffee & I refuse to pay upwards of £2 for that.

I really like Aldi's own Double Chocolate Mocha- which I suspect is very similar to the box shown above.  £1.09
