We have both. The old mechanical one and a new digital one that just records what the solar is up to. I couldn't say if the old one runs backwards when we're exporting because it has been so little (one whole kilowatt in 2 months, but I'm ever hopeful.)
I would be interested to know how you calculate how much electricity you have exported, when you don't have an export meter.
I do have an export meter. At least I have a meter that shows how much we've generated, how much we've used and how much we've exported.
That's quite unusual. What's the make and model?
