finding a financial advisor to invest in property

HI, can anyone recommend an independent financial advisor that can help me decide how to invest my pension lump sum in property and wether to set up a ltd company to buy the properties or just use my personal allowance? I have contacted 'Unbiased' but they only deal in stocks & shares.
Many thanks.

If you are planning to buy a property as a BTL, you don't need a financial advisor - you need training in how to be a landlord. Join the https://www.nrla.org.uk/
If you plan to buy shares or units in a company that invests in property, you could use a FA, but why? Do some basic research and invest in eg

    Fidelity Global Property

But better still, post your query on the savings and investment board here:

    Are you thinking commercial property?

FIA isn't appropriate.  setting up a limited company to buy the properties would be justifiable if you are buying a few, if you are buying one i don't think this will be worthwhile.  as someone had said, this would be better addressed to a tax accountant than FIA.
  • A lot of info and perspectives can be found on this matter for FREE on the internet.
"financial advisers" do cost you and more often than not your interests are not aligned, you want to grow your wealth, they want to charge you for their service.

investing your pension into commercial property could be tax efficient, residential likely less so.

As others have said, buying through Ltd typically only worthwhile with scale, and not with just a single or two properties.

and as also discussed many times on this forum, overall economics of BTL properties are far less straight forward than most seem to think.

not sure your age, but if approaching retiring age, i would probably shy away from properties, far too illiquid and high transaction costs.

IFA's are highly regulated and are obliged to give you personal financial advice that is appropriate for you, as measured by long established guidelines.
I would guess that they would be reluctant to give advice on individual property buying as it is relatively risky, and if it all went wrong you could potentially sue them for bad advice.

This is not IFA territory.  In any case a little research may we convince you that property is not the investment that it once was.  The changes in taxation, the administrative burden of being a landlord and increasingly anti-landlord legislation dictate that the days of this being a desirable place to put money for most are long gone.

Can do a lot of it yourself free of charge.

Lots of useful resources online including groups such as NRLA.

Also get clued up about been a landlord and all the regulations and if that is what you want.

Makes a difference buying in own name or via a Ltd company. An accountant might be worth speaking with.
