Pret T&C’s

I was looking at cancelling my Pret subscriptions which is advertised as £30 a month. On reading their terms and conditions, it stated a recurring fee of £25 a month. I contacted Pret to say these were the t&c’s I agreed to when I signed up and could I be reimbursed 😂 I sent them on screenshot to accompany my message. They replied the next day and said I was mistaken, and to follow their hyperlink WHICH THEY HAD CLEARLY CHANGED, despite it saying last amended November 23. Luckily I still had the £25 version on my phone so I printed them out and sent them. They are denying the price and the change. This feels a really dodgy move by Pret. What started as a ‘are you aware or this’ move by me, has now turned into a gloves are on situation! I am appalled they are denying it, basically gaslighting me, and my dated evidence. We have been to-ing and fro-ing and I’m getting nowhere. What can I do?

https://web.archive.org/web/20230314205444/https://www.pret.co.uk/en-GB/legal shows that the fee was £25 in March 2023, last updated in January 2023.

However, version 7.0 of the Club Pret terms, updated on 26 April 2023, shows £30, which is mirrored by subsequent versions: https://web.archive.org/web/20230314205444/https://www.pret.co.uk/en-GB/legal

The main thing to note though is that it's not a fixed price arrangement - the terms allow price increases:
We reserve the right to change the subscription fee upon providing at least forty (40) days’ notice to you, subject always to your ability to cancel your Club Pret Subscription in accordance with clause 9
so showing that the price used to be £25 doesn't actually move you any further forward....

When did you screenshot it? Where from?

Looking at https://www.pret.co.uk/en-GB/legal via the WayBack Machine (it takes copies of websites periodically) it shows as £30 in November and May last year under clause 7.1 but in March last year it had a different name but at that point it was £25. There are no screenshots between March and May so cannot say when between the two it changed.

I screenshot it on 18 February 2024, from Pret.co.uk, and printed out a copy (from my phone history which still showed the same info) on 21 February 2024
  • They have messaged me today saying they are unwilling to discuss with me further and consider it closed…

Exactly which page were you looking at, i.e. which specific URL?

The only snapshot from this year is 16th Jan which says £30

    can you post the screenshot?

Both from their website, dates as previously stated.

  • I feel like I’m losing the plot, am I right in reading this? Why are they so adamant in denying the evidence, and then it feels shady as all hell to change it without updating the version history.

If I click the URL today, it says £30. This is my point. They have changed it from what I saw on 18 February, but are denying it!!!

Showing the day I got that information, the screenshot won’t show website and date on the photo
