Debenhams refusing refunds

What you on about ray123. if an item is reduced by 50% or more then you cant get a refund on it, it is exchange only for product or on a gift card. If you have the store card then you can get a full refund.
Debenhams do give refunds, its just they have made it a policy to not accept refunds 2 days after christmas which is understandable because it will be busy and refunds take time to do.
Thank god i wasnt working, because i can just imagine the customers letting off their stress of christmas at the sales assistants moaning that they cant have a refund and how absurbed it is.
If you read the signs around the till which 99% of people fail to do you would know what is to be returned and how and when. Ask the sales assistants, they are there to give info to make youre shopping and returning procedure more easier.
Thing is my husband is in retail, has been for years and couldn't understand this silly rule. The shop was quiet, nobody in the queue and they had nothing to exchange the item for. They don't normally sell baby toys, I'm quite amazed the person (as I wasn't the person who bought it I had no idea about the returns problem beforehand) who bought this present got it from debenhams tbh. I would quite happily of exchanged if they had anything to exchange it for but they had no toys in store at all.
Now I'm stuck with £35 on a card when I cannot use it to buy son a present because they don't sell toys anymore!0 -
I saw the signs in loads of shops this year, prior to Christmas. Next, Debs, M & S and maybe Monsoon.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Why not see if any of your friends shop at debenhams and exchange the card for cash with them...0 -
Now I don't mean to be rude, but the few days after xmas are the busiest for the shop staff & customers. You already have to queue for a substantial time when buying during a sale, and the stores are busy. I'm sorry but it makes sense all round not to offer refunds in those first few days, they can serve more customers are the customers have shorter waiting times.0

can't the gift card be used online?
there's loads in the sale and they do kids clothes if not toys so you can still get something for your son.
in my experience it's quite common for stores to refuse refunds over the xmas time, they're just to busy.Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I was in Debenham's today and was amused to see that the sign says they are not accepting refunds. Now, unless they paid you to take the goods away in the first place, don't shops generally issue refunds??C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0

I got a refund from Debenhams on Boxing day. The lady must have made an exception. I do sympathise with the store workers at this time of year. I worked in M and S and BHS during my student days on the refunds counter and people are really horrible to you even though the poor cashier doesn't formulate store policy.Jan 1st 07 Car loan £4830.46@12% Personal Loan £11,517@8% variable Overdraft £1500 July 2009Halifax-£0Debt free date 14th July 2009 :j0

we went to debenhams yesterday to return a duplicated present only to be confronted with signs everywhere that they are not doing refunds til 28th December (i think) anyway the thing is we both work full time and this shop is 30 miles away from us so we made a special (wasted) journey. what a pain. as others have said the shop wasnt that busy anyway so whats the problem.0

I have two items to return to debenhams, one has split lining and the other is missing a button and has no spare (typical as the buttons are on the front) surely its within my rights that they refund the cost in full despite them being reduced as they weren't marked damaged when I brought them. (was not a happy bunny when I got home)0

If you have the receipt you should get the price you paid refunded. If not it is usually the current selling price.0
