Same here, 4 people in my house, initially got a warning to say. Responded to say the whole house was not sharing. Only 1 person had collections. They responded by saying that was fine and to not share.
Then got stuck in a volunteer induction loop. Olio has stated I'm linked to a banned account, I am aware that a family member was banned for no date on a soreen loaf (yes i know crazy). Initially said multiple account and have no said said it's just because I'm linked to someone. So email back asked if I should be punished for a family member being banned (let's not go into the soreen loaf) So atm only the rich folk who have multiple numbers and phones get collections. No idea what the point of olio is, but it's not the lie to help the poor or those in poverty and get ticked off when they say it is.

I've read lots of info from Olio and have never seen anything that claims it's about helping the poor (not to say such information doesn't exist, but it's clearly not their main aim).  They are all about reducing waste, helping the environment and building communities.

I have just been banned again -  second time this month and after being reinstated after the first ban.  My sister moved in with me for a few weeks while her house was having work done on it.    She's also a FWH in our local area.  We never requested from each other, never used each others phones,  never had collections on the same night but they have decided we are using multiple accounts and/or keeping ir sharing food.   Everything we did was within Olio rules but their algorithm is King and Olio employees seem to have no common sense!

I saw the post about your situation on the Olio forum thread just a few mins ago. The thread was noticed when I originally posted so maybe the Olio team are keeping an eye on it?

The post is getting traction on the Olio forum and has been picked up by Linda. How much closer that brings us to resolution I don't know, but at least there is awareness.

Its going to be quite a task for Olio to distinguish genuine users from those abusing the system, and we may have to accept that its not possible.
I don't think Olio are doing anything about it.  Their stock answer is that  multiple accounts have been detected.  There are dozens if not hundreds affected.  It is on the Olio forums and support just say read the guidelines.   No transience at all, simply you're banned and thats it!

Some people have been reinstated, but the process is unclear to me. I can understand the Olio mods don't wish to disclose their methods given that they are intended to prevent misuse of the site. The latest quick quiz was a reminder that the 10% retention was to cover the whole household.

I've just submitted a SAR request to see data they hold and what data they used in making their decision to ban me.  Maybe if everybody did the same they'd realise the problems this is causing..

Hi, have any other Olio users been banned and accounts deleted this morning? Both my wife and I got the same email at 10:26 saying we’re banned for having multiple accounts. We have 1 each, well within the rules, but we do need to use each others phones occasionally to list items. Looks like the new system Olio has in place has flagged this. Why they can’t see the same 2 people one the same 2 accounts one the same 2 devices is beyond me. I wonder if the new system was bought off the Post Office….
Submit a SAR Request.  I've just done it as I want to see what data they are using to make their decision

Everybody submit a SAR request to find out what data they're using to make these decisions.  .

Olio Exchange Ltd is subject to the law. It, the business, has to comply with the GDPR. Using data protection laws, you can make a Subject Access Request and a Request to Correct Inaccurate data.

The SAR request can include, inter alia, any data that was used in the decision to ban your Olio account. This includes information, evidence, or any other relevant data that was considered during the review process leading to the account ban.

If I was banned, I would submit to Olio, by email and by post, these two requests made under the GDPR.

    THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE!
Did a SAR on 31st May so be interesting what they come back with!
