CONTRACTS ON MOBILE PHONES

My husband returned from living in France. He didn't have any credit rating in the UK so I took out the contract for his mobile phone. It was over 3 years and the phone was supplied by Sky mobile and I got his SIM card from Sky on my existing account. The SIM cards on my account were named HerName and HisName. He recently passed away and whilst Sky cancelled his SIM card it would appear that I have to carry on paying for his phone £20 a month until June 2025. Does anyone have experience of this? I was happy to return the phone but apparently it will cost in the order of £575 to pay off the existing contract. Anyone know if this is correct please? Thank you.

How long ago did you take out the contract?0

Sky doesn't offer joint accounts and so as you say it's your account and therefore given you are still alive the contract is still valid and will have whatever minimum term you agreed to. I would be in the same position as my wife's sim is also in my name so it's all pinned to my life not hers.
Sorry for your loss and sorry but it sounds like they are correct. You can sell the phone to contribute towards the cost.2
