What does it include? Is a new bathroom worth £19k to you?

Did see a bath the other day made from one block of some rare marble and excluding delivery it was £35,000 just for the bath so it's certainly not as high as it could be.

We don’t know big your bathroom is. Mine is tiny and I wouldn’t pay £19k to refit mine, as I know I wouldn’t get most of this back when selling up.

  • Do you think it is good value?

Are you planning on staying in the property for a number of years?

I suppose if you are a multi millionaire it is small change ,however if you only have the state pension as income it is a fortune ,only you will know what is value.

Small bathrooms have as much complexity and risk as larger bathrooms. only the materials cost increases as the room gets larger.

You need a couple more quotes to get your eye in how expensive the job should be.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

We paid £30k for a bathroom, shower room and downstairs loo. It all depends on what you choose. We had shower board but barely any tiling. In fact the bathroom fitter donated some tiles he had left over from another job. We had crosswater fittings. So I think mid priced.
  • What’s a high end bathroom? You can purchase everything a high end bathroom fitter will fit for a fraction of the cost, and then get a decent tiler in to fit it all.

cheap bathroom with cheap fittings somewhere in the region of £4-7k, high end fittings £9-12k

Where in the country are you as that will affect labour costs?

£19k sounds like a lot, especially if there's no tiling involved at that would account for a lot of the labour costs.

I'd get some more quotes but ask around friends / family for recommendations. The last thing you want to do is save a couple of grand but end up with a poor finish. Ask to see examples of their work before committing too.

There can be so many different trades involved in bathroom fitting which pushes the price up if you can't find a fitter who does the lot. They'll sub out the work to other trades but also add a mark up onto their cost. By the time you've had a plumber, spark, joiner, tiler etc on site it can end up costing a fortune.

This looks about right, assuming nothing ridiculously 'high end'.

We had a medium sized bathroom ( 4.5 M2) completely redone, apart from the entrance door. Good quality fit & finish, but nothing extra fancy.
New large shower with glass doors. New large sink with undersink drawers, new storage cupboard, new loo, new towel rail. Tiled floor, half tiled walls.
