Are you expecting or needing to use the phone while away from WiFi?
Is an eSIM an option for your phone?Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid2 -
Switch OFF answering service before you go at 29152

Update
Thanks for replys.
Have checked with local Tesco fone shop Guru guy as well.
We need to go to a US T Mobile shop, they will install a US sim for us, lasts a month, about £30.
Airplane mode will stop uk calls, emails, voice mails etc excessive charges on leaving UK until uk sim removed by T Mobile in states.
See no reason to get excessive roaming charges.
Unless you know otherwise!!!!0 -
Bit over the top.
As long as answer is turned off at 2915 and you ignore calls.................. no charges will apply
Install 'Whatsapp' and use free wifi if you need to keep in touch. Free wifi is everywhere in USA
Using a USA sim will incur heavy charges for someone ringing you on it from UK2 -
You could just buy an esim before you go. £16 for 10GB of data here: https://www.getnomad.app/en/united-states-eSIM
You could then just remove the Tesco sim from your phone when you arrive in the US. You can still contact people using WhatsApp and if you need to ring an actual phone number you can use an app like Rebtel.1
