    Great Forumites!
    It's over.
I want to thank you all for all your assistance with this case. I gained tremendous amount of confidence through your comments and suggestions which helped to resist all the pressure to pay the scavengers but challenged them till the end. You're doing a great job for the society. Keep up the good work.

I took time off today to write my witness statement just in case it didn't go as expected. As I was about to start writing I decided to check my email, Lo & behold, DCB Legal had just emailed me their notice of discontinuance.
To say I am relieved is an understatement.

Here is a copy of my email response to their earlier proposal to settle the matter if I pay £100. Perhaps, someone may find it useful.

    "Dear XXXXXX,

Further to your email below I propose a full and final settlement of all matters relating to the above case.

Without admission of liability and solely to avoid the inconvenience of further proceedings, I am prepared to offer the sum of £1.00 as a peppercorn settlement.

This offer is made on a “without prejudice” basis. If it is not acceptable to your client I am prepared to follow the normal court process to resolve the matter.

     Kind regards

    XXXXXXX"

Here is the notice of discontinuance

Thank you OP for the copy of your NoD. I can now get this counted in the DCBL Legal thread of shame. 👍
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
