    Fact is, almost everyone buying a home heat pump is buying one for the first time and won't know enough details of their operation to choose between different brands.  The person choosing the brand is the installer and the installer will probably be guided by price and ease of installation more than performance when installed.

    Also, the brand that features most often in "user comments" and "forum debates" might feature because it is the most troublesome!
