You can complain all you like, just set your expectations lowSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi,
I sent a letter to Barclays requesting information about a Car Loan. I received a letter today saying they needed photographic evidence of my ID to comply with Data Protection Regs, which is strange becuase the has written to me previously - letter and email - when this loan was settled in 2020.
Just a heads up for anyone else who gets the same response.

Hi everyone was wondering if anyone has had a response from a finance company saying:-
Thank you for your email dated 15/08/2024 asking for confirmation of whether we paid the dealer a discretionary commission for your introduction to us.
After making a reasonable and proportionate search of our records (and making due enquiries with appropriate third parties), We’ve discovered due to the historical nature of your agreement that we no longer hold your details, This is due to our data retention policy and therefore we will not be able to check if your vehicle had a discretionary commission agreement paid on it or not.
Under GDPR we can only hold personal data for as long as your details are needed for our business practices, once whatever agreement we have with you has ended we then remove all personal details from our system to keep to the GDPR rules.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
Kind regards,
Customer Services

Hi everyone was wondering if anyone has had a response from a finance company saying:-Yes. There have been quite a lot of threads like that and the FCA themselves have identified the data protection act as an issue.
