assessed meter charged

I took Martins advice because I knew I couldn't have a water meter, I asked them to come and try to fit one.  They confirmed I couldn't have one and said I would be put on assessed meter reading and my water rates would reduce from £750 to £450 per year.  Happy days, but I was wondering if I would get backdated adjustments from when I moved into the house 20 years ago as I have been on unassessed water rates since then.  I am with Welsh Water.  Thank you.

Unfortunately not, you only get the assessed rate after you request a meter and it can't be fitted.

Why did you wait 20 years before asking for a meter then? You should be able to get it backdated to the date at which they determined that a meter could not be fitted.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • We had no choice, water bill was part of our rent.
    Paid to the council.
This changed 3 years ago. First thing I did was request a water meter.
Knowing they could not fit one.
We would need 2, One for standard water coming in and one for water from tanks on the roof.
So were able to request an assessed tariff.
We also get water help, 50% discount on bill.

From what has been said above, ask for the refund back dated 3-years, I am assuming you did ask 3-years ago? If your water didn't respond then, it sounds a bit careless of them. Maybe you have grounds for a complaint for the refund.
