Can't reply to any comments on a previous thread that I created

I can't reply to any comments on a previous thread that I created, which is making it seem that I'm being ungrateful for the responses that I received. The constant message that appears on a red band after I've written a reply is that it's '9 characters too short', whatever that means? I get this message irrespective of how many characters I use. The reply box also seems to have several boxes within it, if that's anything to do with it? Can anyone help, please and tell me where I'm being stupid, as I'm baffled? Many thanks:)

Your reply must be too short.

It must be 9 characters or more - so “Thanks” is too short.

What's likely happened is that you've typed your reply inside a 'quote' tag so the system thinks your words are part of a quote of someone else's text, so they're not being counted against the minimum post length.

If you can't figure out how to type outside the 'quote' box, you can go to 

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/drafts  

and click the X to delete the draft post which will remove the blockage and allow you to try replying from scratch.
