    (Can actually travel before 9.30 if journey starts in this county- because otherwise you might not make a hospital appt etc. since buses are so rare)

    The national requirement is that from State Pension Age, local authorities must offer a free bus pass, which can be used on local bus services (so not long distance coaches, for example). And I don't think they can be used across our internal borders, so for example I can use my local bus pass in London, but not in Wales, and I'm not sure about Scotland or NI. 

    However, some local authorities offer a bus pass from earlier than SPA, and others include local train travel either from 60 or at SPA. 

    The Senior Railcard is available from age 60. Note that if you use a hearing aid (at any age) then the Disabled Persons Railcard is better VFM - slightly cheaper and you can take a companion with you for the same price. Obviously it's not just deafness which qualifies for this, but your hearing loss doesn't have to be profound.
