Tesco Bank credit cards, loans and savings to be bought by Barclays – here's what you need to know

Would be a bit of a pain as I was considering a BT from Tesco to Barclays (I hold both, both have 0% balances), I wonder if they will allow it.It's entirely possible to hold multiple Barclaycards - they just don't currently allow you to apply for multiple; this hasn't always been the case tho, previously it was 1 Barclaycard and 1 partner (IHG or Hilton) card. There are also people who have both a Barclaycard which they applied for and a Barclaycard they now have as a result of an earlier acquisition (Egg, Monument etc).Their systems all support customers holding multiple cards, it's just a matter of policy that they currently decline applications if a Barclaycard is already held. No reason at all they couldn't roll up Tesco Bank credit cards as they have other acquisitions in the past.
1) Could I merge 2x cards?
2) Will this now block Tesco->Barclays BT offer in which case I might as well do it either end of October or November or look at another BT cardDepends entirely on(a) if Barclays run Tesco Bank as a separate entity (like HSBC do with First Direct for example)(b) Barclaycard policyToo early to know in either case - but if you're needing to transfer a Tesco Bank balance to Barclaycard I wouldn't be hanging about to find out. They'll be taking control of Tesco Bank's IT (everything still has to work when they takeover, migration takes time) but I highly doubt they'll be using any of it beyond such a time they can migrate away from it. The credit card backend is all legacy RBS stuff so not really any newer than Barclays. My expectation is that Tesco branded offerings will live within the normal Barclays/Barclaycard apps (as they do now with their Hilton and Avios products) or a new cut down implementation of the Barclays app will be created for Tesco's offerings (as HSBC do for M&S Bank, for example).1 -
What I don't get in the email is it mentions Direct Debits but you can't have them with a Tesco bank account, you could with their previous current account but that all stopped ages ago & they launched the clubcard pay + account0

This is the only reference to Direct Debits which I can see?
What's they're assuring is that any DDs or standing orders which are set up to pay Tesco Bank credit cards will continue to function unaffected by the takeover.

Barclays are not a good Bank to try do business with for personal account holders. Let's all hope some of Tesco's ethos rubs off on them over time!-1

Barclaycard issue Mastercards as well as Visas (specifically for their Avios range), so there's no reason the symbol would have to change (although of course it could do).

Curiously I got a letter from Tesco Bank yesterday informing me of the change to Barclays.
To the best of my knowledge I don't have a Tesco Bank account of any sort. I have a Club Card.
I did have a Tesco Credit Card 20 years ago when I was declared bankrupt.
Any ideas or should I contact them on the telephone number on the letter0 -
