  • Can I get a West Brom regular saver without living in the post code.
For eg, open an easy access then a regular saver.
Did I read about it on a post.

Probably one for the main regular saver thread where such prerequisites are discussed more widely than in a thread about contribution caps.

    Yes, you can.
And, IIRC, some people were able to open it even without opening an easy access account first.

  • Coventry £500 pm, only 5% variable though-

    Regular Saver (6) (coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk)
Cov's First Home Saver is 5.05% and £1K / mth.
I opened the FHS but gave notice when the easy access rate overtook it. It's still open with £1 in case it becomes worthwhile again. It also matures at 36 months, which is a plus.
I was lucky enough to snag v1 which is at 5.6 and still has 24 mths to run.
I missed out on that one as was debating if it was right to open one, being that it really wouldn't have been savings for anyone's home.

Did manage to get the Hanley BS £1000pm before it was withdrawn, which is also a decent rate @ 5.5%
lol - I was sat on that CBS moral fence too for a long while... in the end, I opened it.

it's been discussed recently in the RS thread - the alternative entry is their 5.25% 60 day notice account... that rate can drop with 14 days notice, but if you're only opening with £1 as a gateway account to get access to the regular saver, that won't really matter.

worth remembering with West Brom BS that you have to email them a copy of photo ID and your signature.

ID was easy I think. I took a photo of driving license and signature.
Then uploaded it with the application.
I will find out in 2 or 3 days.

I did this too, then today I got an email telling me they were unable to verify my ID and that I would need to apply again 😞.

Ditto. I will no doubt be assisting daughter's first home purchase at some point!

Why are regular savers capped at quite low amounts per month? Highest I can see is £300 p/m I know you can open multiple accounts but just curious why not allow higher amounts paid in?
    YBS is £500 pm
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • I've got quite a few with contributions over £300.  All over 5.5%

One up to £1000 at 5.6% easy access but NLA.

Keep your eye out on the RS thread

There can be RS in the 500-1000 per month range but their rates are generally not far off from a good instant account as well. I wouldnt really bother with anything under 6%.
