Iv'e got a 50" tv in the corner of my room, its about the same size room as yours and i've got my chair only 3 foot away from the telly and yes i do sit and watch it from the chair no problem,do try to limit the size of the telly stand though, i used to have a 42"before and the stand was huge, now with the 50 the stand is a lot smaller so the tv sits further back in the corner and doesn't look any bigger than the old tv

We have ours on the chimney breast. If you want to put yours on a chimney make sure you have AT LEAST 3/4 inches of wall showing of chimney breast around the sides, otherwise it will look silly.

Could I ask how you mounted your tv on the chimney breast and what do you do about the power socket and the wires connecting it to Sky+ and dvd player?
  • The tv will looked blurred and distorted if its too big and your 2 close, even more so with these widescreen silver plasmas and sugar which really get on my nerves

nothing beats the old CRT for lastability, and quality! when ours goes i dunno what were gonna do as you cant get them anymore or at least get ones that work.

AVOID SONY, quality has gone down hill, dont expect them to replace a broken one either.

My suggestion would be to look at wall projectors if you want something that big!
  • my Sil has a 46" flat screen in a lounge that is approx 5metres by 4metres. it looks too big though.....

We bought a special bracket off ebay (about £40 or £50) universal fitting so can use on any TV.
We channelled out a chanel in the plaster & burried the wires in it & then plastered (or filled) & painted over.

The DVD & SKY box sit in a unit in the recess & the wires do not surface until they are behind the unit, so no wires are visable.

Or if you can't or don't want to channel you could always get the plastic tube'ng from B&Q etc which sticks to your wall. No where as good as Kimevens solution but it does hide those wires.
