Will A 50" Plasma Be Too Big For Room

Options
Have Been Looking At Reviews And Cannot Decide. Hubby Insists We Have To Get A 50". Our Living Room Is 12.5" X 17". We Have A 32" Now And When We First Got It, I Must Admit It Looked Huge And Now It Does Not Look At All Bit Once It Had Been There A While.

Have Been Looking At Samsung Ps50c96hdx Model Today And They Are Priced At About 799.00.

Can Anyone Comment On Size And Recommend A Decent Plasma.

  • I think a 50" screen in a room that size might be overkill.

There are other forums where you can find the maximum screen size that will work for your viewing distance from screen.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

For that size of room, it's not remotely a problem. Assuming this is a 720p set, the ideal sitting distance is about 10 feet for a 50", so no problem. If it's a 1080p you should sit a bit closer, around 8.5 feet.

Not a problem, I use a projector to get a 8-9ft screen in a similar sized room.

I have been surprised at how quickly you get used to a big screen. Having done a bit of creative cut and pasting with a broadsheet newspaper to get the gist of a 37" screen, I now wish we'd gone for a 40"! Get the largest you can possibly fit in the space and make a mock up of the size to fit before you decide.
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!
