Jet2 Catania problems

Yes, there's no dispute that the airline is obliged by the regulations to offer passengers the choice between rerouting or a refund, but the point was that really that, having failed to do that at the time, the only applicable resolution is the refund, and perhaps a small goodwill gesture if they accept that their customer service was inadequate. What outcome are you seeking at this stage?Susanfairweather said:Never accepted a refund , transaction.just done At 81 and 89 we were not about to.go shopping round the country in hope of getting a flight quickly. See above for the nightmare my daughter had to go through to attend her own celebration!0 -
Goodwill gesture of some sort would perhaps have gone some way to healing the wound0

Susanfairweather said:My daughter's got there 1. BA RE ROUTED ON Monday to Palmero and as she had a 6 month old with her was given accommodation and tacken to Catania Thursday In view of what happened she could have been alone in the villa we had booked.
My other daughter ,whose significant birthday it was and also on Jet 2 , had to.get a taxi to Manchester late on Wed. night remember we were not cancelled until 8 .30 pm and managed to get a seat with Ryanair
Without a lot of effort she could have been absent from.her own celebrations!Other guests arrived with Easy Jet
While Jet2 clearly didn't cover themselves with glory here, if they've refunded you and refuse to offer any goodwill gesture then it's unlikely that they'd have any legal obligation to offer anything else, so you wouldn't be able to sue them for example.Susanfairweather said:Never accepted a refund , transaction.just done At 81 and 89 we were not about to.go shopping round the country in hope of getting a flight quickly. As already covered, it was undoubtedly Jet2's responsibility to offer you an alternative flight, but unfortunate that other family members got on with rearranging their own plans without helping the oldies to navigate the situation though....0 -
Help was offered but at that late time did not feel we were up to. crossing the Penines and believe my daughter got the last seat avaiable with Ryanair0

Not sure this is really going anywhere - as discussed over the past few months whenever the thread is periodically resuscitated, there won't be any legal basis under which to pursue Jet2 through the courts, so you're in their hands regarding any goodwill gesture they're prepared to volunteer. Assuming you've made a complaint and they've responded with an explanation but no financial recompense, then I don't see that you have anywhere else to go?0
