Virgin won’t give me replacement card - which I need to pay it off!!

I have had a Virgin CC for about 5 years. The 0% rate ran out long ago on it, but I’ve been steadily paying it off (never defaulted) since.
My limit is £4K and there’s £2k left to pay.
I recently took out a 0% card to pay off the Virgin one, but I can’t find the actual card. So I called them to get a replacement and was told they won’t send me a new one! I appealed and received a letter upholding their decision.
I am so angry as they are effectively keeping me hostage to paying them £40 ish in interest every month. Is this allowed?

Who is your CC debt with, and who issued you with the 0% card?

Can you view the card details from the app or online?

I would try contacting Virgin and asking for the card number rather than a card - they may have taken the decision to not allow any further spending on the card.

Have you got the Virgin card set up as a payee on your current account? Any 16 reference they give for quoting if you pay via Faster Payment should be the card number - though you might want to do a small transfer to test if you have to do it this way.

Erm, no they arent. How are you actually paying them now? Internet banking? The 16 digit card number will be on there.
  • Just tell them you want the information needed to pay the card off.

He or she will likely already have it, this thread is overcomplicating the situation massively.

Credit card number (the long one that is all you need) is usually on your statement and that is all you need to make the payment

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I would have suggested this but on checking my own CC statement, the first 12 numbers are redacted. They never used to be, so I’m wondering if this is common now that statements tend to be paperless.

I checked before posting and my NatWest app statement shows it in full, if anyone is really interested I have a few others (Tesco, Barclaycard, Santander, Halifax & Lloyds (same group) and M&S) that I can check

Bank transfer and cheque payments require the card number as a reference. Tell them that you need the number for this and I don't see how then can refuse.

My Virgin PDF statements show the full card number as would the payment reference OP currently uses.  I don't think that the new card will want the receiving card dates would they ?
