I purchased a new Kia Cee'd in 2009 and am trying to find out who the finance agreement was with. I can see that Kia Finance started the financing on cars from Kia dealers in 2012 but my agreement obviously predates this. Does anyone know the financing company used by Kia Dealers in 2009?

  • Thanks all for the replies. Have checked my credit report and doesn't go back that far. Can't check bank statements as I am no longer with the bank and don't keep records that far.

Then you are all out of luck then.

Was it a brand new car or a new to you car (ie secondhand)? The FCA, I believe, are focusing on secondhand cars which is where there is a lot more discretion. Often on new cars commissions are tiny and instead you get a "deposit contribution" or similar and you either get the headline rate with the contribution or you don't get the finance.

Can you remember if you passed for finance first time? Did you get the headline interest rate?

The "problem" only exists if the interest rate was increased to give the dealer more commission which would mean you didn't get the advertised rate.
  • My wife has been with Kia for years, I've just looked all our paperwork and found company in the name of "MotoNovo Finance" this was the company that financed the car prior to the Kia Finance starting on her next 2 cars. Not sure if this goes back all the way to 2009 but was defiantly in place before before they switched.
  • adding to the above, found another document "Carlyle Finance" changed its name to "MotoNovo Finance" in February 2012.
