NatWest won’t get in touch with PRA you’ll be fine.

Even if they did you can’t have multiple defaults for the same debt.

if you have defaults and looking for a mortgage you need to find a good broker to help and not a mainstream lender to be fair
You are correct but at the same time, PRA could in theory, update with the correct default date i.e. backdating it and if it's still in 6 years, again could apply to enforce the debt.

    The process should be

NatWest default say 1/3/2018 and 1/4/2018
PRA buy the debt, NatWest mark it as paid in full / settled
PRA default it to 1/3/2018 and 1/4/2018
    Defaults disappear 31/3/2024 and 30/4/2024

With PRA setting the defaults in January, they disappear but the original (paid/closed) defaults with the correct dates will stay there - so PRA have messed up and hopefully they have given up with it as they technically have a couple of months to chase the OP or get a CCJ - though depending on the debt size they might not bother - a £10,000 debt they bought for £500 is worth doing, a £50 debt isn't

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Would they only get a CCJ if I wasn't making payments? Its x2 debts, total 6k, I make monthly payments and have had contact regarding settlements and they have never mentioned anything.

I was just excited at the adverse starting to fall off my credit reports! But never mind not long to wait anyway!.

The only reason I mention CCJ is that in British (not Scottish) law they have 6 years to claim a debt from last acknowledgment, after which it's written off and cannot be chased. I had assumed (incorrectly) you weren't paying the debt therefore it might be a last throw of the dice to get a CCJ to create another 6 years to keep going after you before it expires in March/April. However as you are paying and thus acknowledging the debt, they wouldn't need to do it and thus I can't see any reason for them to get a CCJ unless you suddenly stopped paying. Keep paying and the NatWest ones will drop off as well then evaluate

Thank you, Roll on April when they are gone! I can't see Natwest changing it so countdown is on!
  • Natwest came back to me and as I thought the defaults are staying until March & April. They aren't concerned about PRA Group and what they have done so at least they wont contact them too add back on!

A little bonus though....as I was on the phone for around 4 hours trying to speak to someone initially about the accounts they are sending a cheque for £50 so that's nice ha....although I'd much rather have the accounts off now.
