hi if you are just a normal pc surfer you will be fine with a free antivirus plus a free firewall ...........so goto www.filehippo.com and download AVG ANTIVIRUS (FREE) & COMODO FIREWALL (FREE) save the downloads to desktop once you done that go here http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 disconnect from internet once on that page and remove your version of norton reboot pc then once you done all that double click on your antivirus once installed do the same with the firewall

  • It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • http://www.avast.com is what i use. Completly free and functional for Home users on XP and Vista.

Updated every day and best of all, doesn't hog your PC's resorces like Norton etc. which can be as bad as the viruses it's actualy there to stop.

The way I have my PC set up is

    Anti-Virus : - Avast

    Firewall : - Windows

Any problems I have had have had one thing in common.....It was something I did.

Also....Have more than one Anti Virus programe. Going to cause problems.

And don't get confused between Anti Virus software and something like spybot S&D and Ad Aware. They target differant things so I'd recomend having them if you go to the darker sides of the web.

    Hi guys,

I have just upgraded my Windows XP to Service pack 2. I had very few problems with service pack 1 but since I upgraded, it has slowed down the system a lot, it's very frustrating.

I have downloaded avast and lavasoft. Avast has identified many infections - I deleted them all except the windows files. I was unable to repair them so I had to ignore them. As a result, my computer is still slow.

What is the best thing to do?

I have 854MB hard disk space and 256MB RAM.
