  • Many thanks for all your answers. Word of warning though, Vista does NOT like Zone Alarms Firewall, I got the blue screen of death a few times and thought I had wrecked my laptop by turns out its all to do with ZA even though ZA say it is compatible for vista (Stay Clear)!!!!

Yes I second that ZA does not work with Vista. I have had such good results with AVG, I am considering paying for their packaged suite.

  • Avast is a good Anti Virus program, plus I'm using the Windows XP Firewall & a router (which includes one as well)

Is that the new version for Vista(7.1) or the XP version(7.0)?

    Vista Beta available here: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/beta/index.html
  • I did not use that link Donnie however I chose to download by clicking on ZA firewall (same site as you link) it then prompts youto choose XP or Vista I then choose vista and let it download thats when all hell broke loose!!

AVG Antivirus and Zone Alarms Firewall - totally free and both very good

I second that. Norton is a waste of money and completely hogs your system resources. Ad-Aware is also free as is Spybot Search and Destroy both are very good.

Sorry for the double post, but I have Vista Ultimate and ZA and it works fine on my laptop.

Are you sure that you fully uninstalled Norton and re-booted before attempting to install ZA? Many users worldwide use ZA with Vista!
