I think the extra price is for superior electronics giving enhanced picture quality (especially on SD).
I saw one of these on display in Sainsburys last week and it had the worst picture I've seen on an LCD, but it was probably a faulty set.

could always be the signal that the tv is recieving, like i said we have the 32" model of this tv, and the picture on ours is crystal clear, but then i guess it is up to different peoples expectations as to how good it is, i just dont see the point in spending more than we need to, it is like our friends, they brought a 4 sliced toaster for £120, !!!!!! is that all about, it does not even pop the toast out when it is cooked, ours does and it only cost us a fiver, lol, but anyway i was just saying we are very happy with our tv, much better picture than we have had before, and we had a top of the range phillips one before with pixel plus on it(crt though).
Take every day as it comes!!
  • Have the 26 inch sony and is clear through sky and the kids playstation,
granted not as good as my 42 inch panasonic but my brother works in sainsburys and got 15% discount for the price it great,
i think the difference is something to do with 50hz or 100 hz between the series or so i was told when buying.
Previous posts about not having the bravia engine why has it got it written all over the box and tv am i being dumb.

Sainsbury's has another batch of large panel Sony LCD TV's the 32" is £449.99 and the 40" £599.99. They are the budget model described previously.

The TV's are only available in selected larger stores which sell electronics (listed on their website if you do store locator advanced search). The Sony TV's seemed to be selling fast this weekend with much interest from customers. I saw boxed stock on the shopfloor in 2 branches in Glasgow area - Braehead and Darnley.

The stock is centrally allocated so stores cannot re-order. It seems to be an Easter special to get customers into the stores. Phone before you travel.

If you are looking for a decent priced Sony LCD TV then Amazon is worth a look as until the end of March any Sony LCD 32" and over comes with a 3 year warranty. They are currently selling the 32" S series (higher spec than the budget model in Sainsbury's) for about £460.
