Hello everyone, this is my first post.
I've researched the Sainsbury's offer for the 32 inch version (on offer in Sainsburys for £450 if you can get one). If you compare and contrast the Sainsbury's 32U3000 with the 32S3000, you will see that the Sainsbury's deal isn't that keen. This may be similar with the 26" TV.
The U model doesn't have a Bravia engine or Live Colour Creation, unlike the 32s3000. This makes a lot of difference. I found the 32 inch on Pixmania for £472 (it's £699 with John Lewis), then used Dixons to price match so I got a guaranteed UK product (for warranty purposes) delivered before Christmas in 5 days. I can also take it back to Dixons if there is a problem. I suppose the 1 year warranty isn't as good as John Lewis though.
Hope this helps someone.0 -

i have the 32u3000 and yes granted it does not have the bravia engine, it is still a very good tv for the money i paid for it, i am extremly happy with it, certainly the best picture i have ever had on a tv, and i have had a few, my last one was a phillips with pixel plus, and this tv is way better than that, but then again as i always say , it depends what you want from your tv, if you are like me just want a decent picture the u series is fine, why spend money just for moneys sake, Dave.Take every day as it comes!!0 -
Just a word of warning. My mother in law bought this earlier this year from Makro. A couple of weeks ago, the picture quality deteriated. She has waited until after Xmas to report it to Sony as she thought that there would possibly a problem getting an engineer to come out over the holiday period. Today she contacted Sony as the tv came with 1 years warranty but was informed that the warranty does not cover call outs for 26" tv's. She asked how she was going to get it repaired & was told to take it to a Sony Centre. My mother in law told the customer service adviser that she is a pensioner & doesn't drive & couldn't possibly carry the tv on a bus. The reply that she got was "you should have purchased a 32" tv". Local tv repair companies will not service Sony tv's. She has however been paying for a 5 year extended warranty but this does not come into effect until the 1 year warranty expires so now she will have to put up with the bad picture until she can claim on the new warranty.:mad:0

all i know is the "U" series is sonys budget range, but like i say i have a "U" series model, and it is by far the best tv i have ever had, it does perfectly for our needs, good picture, i dont see the point of paying more just to get functions that we would never use.Take every day as it comes!!0 -

I think the extra price is for superior electronics giving enhanced picture quality (especially on SD).
I saw one of these on display in Sainsburys last week and it had the worst picture I've seen on an LCD, but it was probably a faulty set.0
