I am looking for help/ advice. I lost my mother back in May of last year and I am to sole beneficiary to her estate. This includes a 50% share in a property (which I owe the other 50%). Would it be possible for me to set up a trust in her name for her share of the house? Any help will be greatly received.

Any reason why you would want to set up a trust, given you would be sole owner?
Is this due to getting means tested benefits, or have family?Life in the slow lane0 -
Is there a reason that this question is in the Disability forum, as it is not immediately obvious why ?0

It’s possible, but would almost certainly be a terrible option. Is this your home? What are you trying to achieve?0

Does the trust not have to be specified in the will for this to be an option? What are you trying to achieve? Because if you’re living in the property, it won’t affect any means tested benefits and if you aren’t, you already have the 50% that counts as an asset.
I can’t think of any other reason why you want to do this. Unless you’re trying to protect assets from a divorce or something like that? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
