Their European website also has an awful lot of "troubleshooting" information too. Just click on this link and pick your model.

My OH's Zen had this problem when he first put music on it; I can't for the life of me remember how we fixed it, but I do know I found the answer to the problem from the page I've given the link to.
  • When you press play what happens? does the timer start or does it just sit there doing nothing? if the timer starts then it's possible the headphones are plugged into the wrong hole. Sounds daft I know but I did it myself with mine.

THANKS for all the help, the MP3 player is working. My nephew will be delighted. :j

Can anyone tell me where you could download free MP3 songs for a 7 year old?
  • I could, but it's slightly illegal and slightly against forum rules

If you've got CD's of music your nephew likes, you can save the tracks on your computer and then download them to the Zen as it plays WMA files too.

My nephew came back and asked if I had got music on his MP3. I pretended I hadn't and then when I pressed the button he was delighted. I asked him if he thought I would get music onto his MP3, he said "I never doubted for a minute that you wouldn't do it." :j

Aww, what a sweetie! I hope he loves his Zen as much as my OH loves his!
