I have my first item for sale on ebay and have a paypal account so would like to know if the item sells and I accept payment through paypal how do I stop them withdrawing the money. Is it as simple as putting the money into my own bank account and I can then send the goods happy in the knowledge that they can't then scam me???

Its all a bit dodgy innit?? :-/
Yes and unless your verified with paypal they will charge you £10 if it happens. Paypal then extract the cash from the card you register (I'm pretty sure form the accounts I have heard). Nochex is safer for sellers but wise buyers know the difference, best to offer both and request nochex first ;)

Ive been having the same problems selling phones, 3 times ive had to put the phone on due to Nigerian time wasters, ebay are looking at this, but im perplexed to how overseas members can bid on a UK only auction, ebay have big security flaws here. Also after 2 of these auctions i was sent a "Fraudulent account activity" email, looked like it was from ebay and the log-in link page looked perfect!! The email had asked to update acc details or acc could be suspended. Obviously i would never log-in to an acc from a link on an email, so sent it to spoof@ebay and sure enough it was fake. I think this is therefore part of the scam i.e. if you dont play ball and report them they send you that email out to try to steal your details.... BEWARE!!!
  • Thanks for the advice you guys, turns out my first sale was a payment by cheque anyway. I have checked and i am verified.
EBay would have you believe that selling is a piece of cake.
Praise the lord for MSE. ;D

  • you dont need to accept payments with paypal. when a payment is sent it is added to your account straight away.
unless you withdraw the moeny to your back account, then paypal will refund the money if the payer requests the payment be returned. if your paypal account has no money, then paypal cannot touch your bank accounts.

so how does this work dont like the sound of this many people will be scamed if this is true ,
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D
