A standalone phone line will be provided with a low bandwidth broadband connection included in the price
So who can we purchase this from, BT?

    Yes

Do you definitely need a standalone voice service, rather than a voice service over an existing broadband connection?

The cost of my basic PSTN line has increased by over 50%.  Tried to move line to a new provider only to be informed that BT are not accepting orders for new or transferred PSTN lines anymore!
So what you are saying is that you are currently with CityFibre for a landline service only and your discounted minimum term has ended and you have now gone back to their standard rate on a rolling contract?

You are currently on an exchange which has not had fibre rolled out onto it (so either ADSl or FTTC services) and BT OpenReach (Not BT Retail) have put a Stop Sell order on the exchange.

Your choices are as far as I know one of three options.
    1. Stay as you are
    2. Re-negotiate as new deal with CityFibre to stay as you are
    3. Find a new provider who can do a digital voice service over the copper connection

Your reference to CIX is confusing me. From what I can see they do broadband only and do not have a digital voice service. So not sure how they are relevant to your situation.

    Yes

But all options there are _way_ more expensive than an old basic copper landline, over double.

No discounted minimum term involved, just a plain month by month rolling contract.

The exchange appears to be Fibre enabled but I do not want anything more than a plain phone line in this premises, don't see why I should be forced to pay all this extra for something I don't want.
As far as can tell no provider will be able to do a digital voice service over the copper connection without adding the extra cost of broadband.

Have another copper landline from CIX in the same premises so was going to move the Cityfibre line over to them but can't do that due to BT's Stop Sell order.

So a CIX landline and a Cityfibre landline in the property but no broadband? Its a little unusual.

Is it dearer than you're on right now? if not then you're saving money if you switch, if so then stick with what you have and try to negotiate with them.

One is in an outbuilding not connected to the main house and is paid for by a seperate business so cannot be used for a second line.
