Hi ,
We are due to land at JFK next Friday afternoon and our hotel in in Hells Kitchen ( West 48th ) so wanted to see which would be best way to travel ?
Haven't been in a few Years and got the train last time , but have a few cases and Daughter this time so just wanted to get a car to the Hotel
Do yellow cabs do a fixed price and accept cards or would it be more advisable / cheaper to get an Uber ?
Thanks

Official NYC cabs have a fixed price from JFK and take cards. Beware of unlicensed "hawkers" when you leave the terminal

- Taxis at JFK Airport charge a flat fare of $70 for trips between the airport and Manhattan. Taxis impose a $5.00 surcharge during peak hours (4-8 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays), for a fare of $75.00.
- There is also a NY State tax of 50 cents added to trips within New York, but not for trips to NJ.
- Plus New York State Congestion Surcharge of $2.50 (Yellow Taxi) or $2.75 (Green Taxi and FHV) or .75 cents (any shared ride) for all trips that begin, end or pass through Manhattan south of 96th Street.
- One fare pays for all passengers to one destination.
- Four passengers (five in minivans) is the limit for New York City cabs.
Drivers are required to accept American Express, MasterCard, VISA and Discover (and some will accept the JCB Card) for all fares. The driver must accept credit/debit cards for any fare amount.https://www.nyc.gov/site/tlc/passengers/passenger-frequently-asked-questions.page

I would only take yellow cab from the airport.
Although I personally wouldn't take a cab at all as the subway is cheap and quick.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

In Manhattan it’s ok but we took the subway last week to the airport in the morning and once out of Manhattan everyone gets off apart from us (family of four adults) and we are then treated to a woman doing a full change in front of us and then goes on a tirade about stabbing someone. Every carriage has someone in as well so there was little point in changing carriage.Wasn’t quite so bad on the way from JFK to town.Personally I’d take a cab, we will next time. For a family of four the difference isn’t quite so much when you add up all the fares.1 -
