yes - unable to log into either Santander or Cahoot... occasionally get as far as entering the OTP, but then no further... the Santander app works, but that's of no use for Cahoot.
  • I don't think it's you, I have been unable to access my account today and twitter is away with people reporting the same issue. Santander are apparently working hard to resolve the issue

Santander online banking is down this morning.

There have been multiple reports on downdetector.co.uk and on the Santander X site.

Santander say they are aware and are working on it but also that the app is working fine. I can concur with that having just logged into the app.
  • Had problems a few days ago could get on line with pc and iPad but could not do anything.  Rang them and after they asked tech team said there was a know fault and it was being worked on.  When I said why did they not put something out to tell people they seemed to think I was asking for the moon on a stick!

    ^This

If they just put up a message saying the service wasn't working it would save people typing in their login details and patiently watching the spinning wheel for no particular benefit.

It might also take some of the load of their systems and help the resolve the problem quicker, but I'm no IT expert.

They have finally, at 11.45, admitted there is a problem on their service status page nearly 3 hours after reports started hitting social media

I am finding they have made changes to their login process at some point in January which make things a lot more hassle.

My wife and I would both use the same computer to check online banking (both Santander C/A), she doesn't have the Santander App on her phone either. We use Chrome browser and have the AdNauseam plugin to block ads. In December with AdNauseam disabled when one of us logged in at any point after the other you would need an OTP and I guess this had some flag either locally or remotely (cookie or ip-address) to enable the next login (as same person) to go through with just passcode. With AdNauseam enabled whatever tracking/cookies were happening allowed both of us to log in with just passcode (no OTP), this made things smooth/easy.

Now in January with AdNauseam enabled, every login, every time needs an OTP. Disabling AdNauseam we are back to OTP when one person uses it, but we only need to check my wife's account once a month or so, whereas all the bills go out of mine so I am moving savings <> current account a few times a month. Also I now get way more intrusive Ads... Annoying when they change things and make user experience worse.

Whilst the Santander app has been working fine as usual for me all morning today, I have encountered problems with various banks, and other UK-based websites, when abroad. Using a VPN might help - although I have also found that some banking apps will not work with a VPN. Seems to be a matter of trial and error.
