How easy is it to get a office type job with no experience
Comments

Something in a office not so much admin work, something where I can sit down and do work without needing to talk too much, The faulty goods inspection was in a office setting. That's why the title of this thread is office type job. As you can probably tell I haven't much clue what kind of office type jobs are out there and what they involve. To start with I'm just looking for something simple doesn't matter if it's boring work.Cloth_of_Gold said:
I thought that that was the premise behind your thread. What are you looking to do now?_Jem_ said:I have the Disability advisor phone appointment in a couple of weeks she was saying about volunteering to get experience. But wanted to wait until I have spoken to the respiratory consultant to find out what their next step is.
So in the mean time I will give PowerPoint a go👍
I wouldn't say I'm looking for a admin job role.0 -
But not admin? That's the majority of office jobs I'd say, especially at the basic level._Jem_ said:

I think admin work would be too much for me to handle. I'm limited to what I can do but the DWP work assessment has said I might be able to find a job, so when they have said that I can only think of a sit down job in a office where I don't need to use my voice much, hell I would even do paper shredding if it's sitting down ...Emmia said:

So exactly what type of tasks would you expect to do?_Jem_ said:

Admin would potentially involve using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint... Filing, scanning, photocopying, shredding.0 -
As said admin work isn't going to be a good place to start, Word I could use for basic stuff I'm not exactly fast at typing. Office work is all I could do at the moment as it doesn't involve moving around but as I have no experience it will be hard. When I worked in a office type environment a long time ago I was doing faulty good returns so that involved checking to see if it was faulty, those days it was paperwork not computers so you would just say what's wrong and put it in the tray.Emmia said:

I have no experience in admin work involving computers, I can use a computer at home just for basic needs but I would be hopeless in a work environment using excel etc.... This is why I'm currently chatting to the disability advisor to see what kind of things I can do inside a sit down office environment. My main problem is learning new things it takes me a long time to remember things so something very basic and simple would be a start so no writing letters.Emmia said:

I'm not sure that an office job is what you want as I'm struggling to think of a a basic job in an office that isn't going to involve at least some of the things you can't/don't want to do. At the very least an employer is going to except that will be able to do them as you are likely to have a degree of flexibility. What about something in a factory that doesn't in involve heaving lifting? Checking things coming off a production line, or something like that?1

This is exactly my feeling and why I'm going to find it hard to find a job that's suitable for my health at the moment, factory work is also out because of a long term health condition I'm limited to what I can do. This is why I told the job centre the only job I can think of is a sit down office type job where I'm not rushing around.Cloth_of_Gold said:I'm not sure that an office job is what you want as I'm struggling to think of a a basic job in an office that isn't going to involve at least some of the things you can't/don't want to do. I have been lucky in the past having jobs where it's not a fast pace environment I guess this is why the disability advisor is taking her time with me.
Thanks for the job suggestion🙂0 -
