I've tried twice too open a spend and save with tsb, declined twice with no explanation.
They say you can write a letter for them to reconsider .... no email address given!
I've never been declined any financial product before, my credit report is unlocked for the duration of the application and I've an excellent credit report.....
Anyone else experienced an issue opening a tsb account and have an email address for then ?

What exactly do you mean by "unlocked for the duration of the application" (and which of the three credit reference agencies does this apply to)?A_Aardvarkie said:...my credit report is unlocked for the duration of the application...

Sorry, it applies to Experian. Before the application I unlocked the credit report so it could be checked. I know that if a credit check can't be made then an application can be declined

Banks do not require a CRA to be unlocked. They have access to them anyway.A_Aardvarkie said:masonic said:

email is a unsecure method & can not be attached to any accounts (Yes they declined you)Life in the slow lane1 -
So you are paying Experian £11-16 pcm, which nearly all of us on here will consider a complete waste of money.A_Aardvarkie said:masonic said:

There are three major CRAs in the UK (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion), there are a few smaller ones, even if a credit check cannot be made some products will still proceed and there is less than a one in three chance the institution the fraudsters will pick is one that uses Experian anyway, "Credit Lock" is a total waste of money.A_Aardvarkie said:

Since they recognised the security risks inherent in transmitting confidential information via that channel, so it's the norm not to publish email addresses....A_Aardvarkie said:

I was also declined for a TSB spend and save, a week or so ago. As I recall, the message I got said that if I wanted to appeal I should go into a branch. Don't remember anything about an email or letter, as others have said, banks don't tend to use email for customers.
I have an Experian account which allows me to lock and unlock the credit file, essentially blocking any hard searches, which yes could result in application declines. (I also do not pay for this.) It was definitely unlocked during the TSB application. Strangely, whilst there are two soft searches from TSB now showing, there is no hard search on my files from any of the CRAs.1 -

They would normally provide an address to write to, but it's questionable whether it would be worth your while, as you don't know what led to the rejection, or if it can be effectively appealed.2
